About Hazelwood Millworks

EXPERIENCE

After studying Illustration at The Columbus College of Art and Design, I relocated for seven years to New Orleans, LA.

New Orleans gave me a unique opportunity to experience a dramatic application of art to a high level of craft. This is where I learned the fine skill of woodworking, and furniture building.

After working and learning a multitude of woodworking skills for many years in New Orleans,

Ohio once again became home.

After concluding my time of four years at one of the leading architectural millwork companies in the columbus area, I have ventured off to begin my own company.

PHILOSOPHY

Words can hardly describe how connected we are to wood, and the feeling that we experience in the presence of this element of nature.

In experiencing the touch, the smell, the beautiful nuances and subtleties of the grain, one can easily find themselves in awe of a piece of wood.

It is a deeply held belief that the surroundings we create in our lives have an effect on our interior world as well.  When we choose to construct a world out of natural beauty, it is easier to find ourselves more present in a positive sense.

AMBITION

Deforestation and destruction of natural habitat is an undeniable problem in our world.  It is important to respect the nature of sustainability while creating your custom furniture or decor.

To the very best of our ability,

your custom woodwork will be constructed  out of local, sustainably harvested lumber.

Many times your materials will  come from trees that have fallen or have been removed for other reasons than sheer deforestation.

Often lumber is acquired from individuals who have treasure troves of material milled long ago sitting in their family's barn for decades, which in itself adds to the uniqueness and beauty of the piece.

The highest quality of specialty woods are also made available to you for that very expressive addition to your home.
